Christmas Cards

A few weeks ago I entered a christmas card competition with Mrs Wilcox the theme was how do you celebrate christmas with your family. There were two peoplefrom our class that got a runner up they were Kaitlyn and Jack but I got a particpant certificate though.

Arts

 Yesterday the senior team showed the learning that they have been doing for the last few weeks like the drama , wearable arts , sculpturing , photography, music and the murals.

I did drama with Mr Menlove we acted out the World Cup final , the Christchurch Earthquake and the Rena disater using mime and facail expressions.

Daily Five

Last week we started the daily five in our classroom.  It is where there is five activities you have to do once a day the things you have to do are:

Work On Writing
For this activity you can write a story in your book or blog post

Read To Self
For this activity you can read a literacy circle book or a book from home but your not allowed to read comics or books that aren't sensible

Read To Someone 
You read to body else but it has to be a sensible book

Listen To Someone Read
You listen to somebody else and give them feedback

Word Work
You can do rocket spelling but I have to do a different activiy because I'm of the rocket spelling.

Camp Reflection

The camp took place at borland lodge all the year sixes went because eairlier on this year they were fundriasing by having a market day which is where the year sixes run stands and sell cheap food or other things at the end it all goes towards the're camp.

It was a great camp with only the year sixes it was nice to spend time with people from another class
I think that everyone supoted each other and helped each other out and made it the best camp that it could be!!

The worst thing about camp was getting woken up earlie and then being tired for doing the activities but when white water rafting getting in the water defintally woke me up!!

The rafting was one of the funnest things that I did because it woke me up. The tyrolean course was fun we one of our parents bribed us to dunk Mr Herring in the water.
Rock climbing was fun because you got to anchor yourself up and down. Abseiling was awesome When I went first it was fun it seemed really high but it was over before I knew it.

Next time I will try and get to sleep earlier so I wouldn't be as tired.
Next years campers should bring a good attitude and lots of fly spray!!! Participate and have fun!

Reflective post

Last week I went to camp it was really fun my favourite things were rock climbing and absieling.

I learnt how to use a bow and arrow but I didn't hit the target.

Now I am proud because I bet some of the boys on other activities.

On Monday I went to Queens Park and played golf .
I learnt how to use a 7 iron it was really fun because we use one of my hits I was proud of myself.

I will play more golf cause I enjoy it.

Yesterday at enrich I learnt how to print my lino print. A lino print is where you chisel out a picture I chiseled out a dragon breathing because our focus is dragons.

I printed it so it could go in the art gallery.
Now I am going to make another lino print.

I did this so I can pass the basic facts ladder step.

Spelling Reflection

This week I have been working really hard on my rocket spelling I have learnt lots of different lists in the past few weeks.

I have worked this hard to get to fifty before the end of the year hopefully my work pays off!!

I will continue to get mum to help me practice like I am now and pass as many lists as possible!!

Silentness

Can you hear that, it is the peace, the quiet, that is what it is .  

Can you see that, it is the it is the birds, the bees, that is what it is .

Can you feel that, it is the hug of the sun, the breeze, that is what it is.

Can you smell that, it is the fresh mowed grass, the beautiful spring roses, that it what it is .

Can you taste that, it is the rich taste of cadbury dark chocolate that is what it is.

southland netball trails

On Wednesday I went to southern netball trails .  I am so happy I got into the team and there is going to be a tournament and the team will go in it the people from myross bush that got in was Devon Simone and I .

Safety Town

This term we have been learning about hazards so wea are making a town and we ahve to identifi the hazards and make them safe for thr lego men to live in.

We made some awesome bushes this is how to make them:

Step one: Get some fluff

Step two: Draw green pastel on  a piece of paper

Step four: Rub the fluff on the green pastel

Step five: Add gliter for effect

If you are plasnning to go into the bush sson you will need to tell somebody.  Then if you do get lost somebody knows you are there .

You are also going to need a backpack

Containing:

Water

Food

Girst aid kit

Matches

Rain coat

Toilet paper

These will help you if you do get lost.

Also wear some suitable clothes like if it is raining wear a rain coat and gum boots and if it sunny wear a t shirt and shorts but pack some warm clothes just in case it rains.

Have fun in the bush but dont forget to bring toilet paper!!!!!

south spell

on wednessday the 15th Andrew Karen ruby and i went to the south spell compitetion we got 9th because our Maori got only 2 marks everything else we got 7 marks or more .

Why do we blog

A blog is a electronic journal of your learning but you need Internet to accesses them.

Why do you just keep your learning in a book when there is so many other ways to share it with the world like blogging .

If you don't want to share it with the world edublogs will allow you to put a password on the post so only the people that have the password can view it .

Today I cant wait till Jibboo time because Room 7 are joining in and we can buy things from their class aswell as our own class .

Austalia Holiday

last week I went to Austalia we had to get up at 5:30 AM because we had to drive to Queens town aero port for our flight it was a long wait BUT FINALLY ................................WE ARE IN AUSTRALIA YAY .  As soon as we got there we went to Pacific fair and went shopping.  When we got to our apartment we unpacked and went in the hotel swimming pool .   We went swimming everyday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We went to the theme parks and at movie world I could finally go on the superman ride it blew my mind! At sea world I liked the dolphin show and at wet n wild I liked the kamikaze we had to carry a heavy blowup donut.  My favourite theme park was Movie World

Good News

Yesterday mum told me some good news that we found a boy dog for my dog Peppa to play with and I can't wait because he is coming over for a couple of nights his name is Sherman.

Our kiwiana character is called Alex .  She lives in Stewart Island.  She loves to have a treat like jaffas or hockey pockey ice-cream yum!!!!!!!

Market Day

 On market day we raised $1729.40

We sold all our pencil holders exept for one which is good because I didn't want a whole lot of pencil holders at home to throw away.

We sold some of the cup cakes but we still have a tin full at home yum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We sold all of the pencil people.

We sold all the scarfs exept three.

Market day

For market day I made this map of where every stall is because this year all the stalls are spread out all over the school so this map will show every one where the different stalls are.

Small Steps

Loose the name Armpit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You just imagine having a name like Armpit or one of the body parts like Hands or Feet. I couldn't stand it could you?

Armpit finds all his small steps getting more big steps.  

Deci pipes

The deci pipes helped me learn to add decimals , now I love doing decimals. The big blue one is a whole, the big red one is one you thread the thousandths tenths and hundredths on to show your thinking and if you are a visual learner . the silver ones are thousandths the little blue ones are hundredths the smallish blue ones are tenths

Market Day

I am so excited I can't wait , but I'm using one of the habits of mind , managing impulsivity till market day , but is hard . On Sunday Emma and I started to make pencil holders and it was so fun mum has to by more stickers and eyes so we can decorate more cans we haven't started any thing else yet and market day is in two weeks!!!!!!!!
